About African Farm Management Association

The Africa Farm Management Association (AFMA) is pleased to invite submissions for the 12th Africa Farm Management Association Congress 2021. The conference will be at the Panari Hotel Nairobi, Kenya from 21st–25th November 2021.

The theme of the Conference is: Commercialization of African Agriculture for Sustainable Development"

Conference Sub-Themes

The Local Organizing committee is inviting papers on the following sub-themes but not limited to;

  1. Risk Management and Climate Smart Agriculture
  2. Patents and Intellectual Property Rights
  3. Emerging Trends in African Agricultural Financing
  4. Emerging Technologies and sustainable agriculture
  5. Linking Products to markets
  6. Intra and Inter-regional trade linkages
  7. Young Generation, gender and sustainable development
  8. Farm Management and Agricultural Extension

Submission of Contributed Papers (Oral and Visual)

All Oral and Visual papers will be submitted, reviewed and managed in a single process. At the time of submission, individuals will have the option for their submission to be considered as a poster only. There is no paper only option.

In order to submit your paper, you will need to adhere to the following rules:

  1. All papers must be submitted by noon GMT on 31st May 2021  to info@afma-k.org
  2. Full papers must be submitted in  Microsoft (MS) Word and include an abstract of no more than 250 words. Please follow the submission guidelines of the African Journal of Agricultural and Resource Economics (authors guide) available at  AFMA Journal Author Guideline
  3. Papers MUST NOT be more than 8500 words in length, all included
  4. Papers MUST BE presented by one of their authors, and an author may present only one paper in an Oral Session.
  5. Submitting authors will have to commit to the following:

    • That their work adheres to the strictest ethical standards. This includes a commitment that the paper does not cite articles published in predatory journals. If your paper is under consideration for publication in another Journal, please feel free to submit it, you will not be penalised.
    • That they will review up to three other papers.
    • That the presenting author is, or will become, a member of AFMA
    • That the presenting author will register and pay the registration fee before final acceptance of the paper.

Congress Fee

The Congress fee will cover a package of congress materials (bag, DVD of proceedings, name badges, note books and pens), mid-congress tour, refreshments tea/coffee/water), gala dinner and lunches.

Early bird registration will close by 20 March 2021 and late registration fee by the 30th September, 2021. Details on fees and methods of payment will be posted on the website www.afma-k.org

Memmbership Registration

The Association welcomes professionals and practitioners with an interest in farm and agribusiness management from government, academia, non-governmental organizations, students and industry to register as members. The member’s fee is US $100 for professionals and $30 for students valid for two years. Membership fees can also be paid along with the conference registration fee.

Oral Presentations

Presenters of both peer reviewed and applied papers will be allocated about 15 minutes to make their presentations. All presentations will be made using PowerPoint. Further guidelines will be posted on the website www.afma-k.org

Poster Presentations

An area will be provided for display of posters and the poster size should be A1.
